Buddy Roemer Takes on Special Interests

Meanwhile, N.H. tries to let Buddy debate

Buddy Roemer, former Louisiana governor and Republican candidate for president, has been nearly single-handedly talking about what none of the other candidates have: why we need to get money out of politics.

He was on MSNBC’s Morning Joe today talking about why we need to clean up Washington to restore faith in government:

Meanwhile, a movement is growing to get Roemer into the upcoming New Hampshire Republican presidential debates. The debate rules currently only allow candidates to participate if they’re polling 5 percent either nationally or in New Hampshire. Roemer refuses to accept funds from large donors, a huge obstacle to getting national recognition.

Today, Jim Splaine writes in the Concord Monitor that Roemer should be allowed to debate because he has something different to say:

Inviting … Roemer to the table would draw attention to an issue that he has been focusing on: campaign financing and where the money to buy the presidency comes from. It’s long overdue. And it can be done by just an invitation.
